In the 2022 National Rugby League (NRL) season, the South Sydney Rabbitohs lost in the preliminary finals stage to eventual premiers the Penrith Panthers, having battled through earlier finals matches against the Sydney Roosters and the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. Whilst the Souths’ squad was not reinforced significantly during the 2023 pre-season, young players such as Ben Lovett, Daniel Fifita, Lachlan Ilias, Peter Mamouzelos, Davvy Moale, Blake Taaffe, and Isaiah Tass are sure to be increasingly important to the New South Wales side, especially as the club will be hoping to extend their season into the finals stages yet again, and will therefore need strength in depth. Will the South Sydney Rabbitohs go one better than last year and reach the NRL grand final – and can the team win if they get there?

2023 Schedule
Like all NRL teams, the South Sydney Rabbitohs will play 24 regular season fixtures in 2023. Of those 24 fixtures, 12 will be played at home, and 12 will be played away. The Souths will play against 8 of their fellow 16 teams twice (once at home, once away), and against the other 8 teams once only. The Souths’ first match of the 2023 season was an away fixture against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks on 4 March; the final Rabbitohs match of the regular season will be against the Sydney Roosters, on 1 September, at the Accor Stadium.

2023 Rivals
In 2023, the South Sydney Rabbitohs will play against the Brisbane Broncos, Canberra Raiders, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, Dolphins, Gold Coast Titans, Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, Melbourne Storm, Newcastle Knights, New Zealand Warriors, North Queensland Cowboys, Parramatta Eels, Penrith Panthers, St. George Illawarra Dragons, Sydney Roosters, and the Wests Tigers.
The Souths share established rivalries with teams such as the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, the St. George Illawarra Dragons, and the Wests Tigers. It is however the club’s feud with the Sydney Roosters which is arguably the most intense, with the rivalry dating back to the foundation of the NRL (then the New South Wales Rugby Football League) in 1908. The Rabbitohs and the Roosters were scheduled to meet twice during the 2023 regular season, with the first match having taken place in March, and the second fixture scheduled for September:
The clubs may also meet in the NRL finals, should they both qualify; in 2022, the clubs met at the second elimination final stage, with the Rabbitohs triumphing 14-30.
2023 NRL Finals
After finishing the 2022 NRL regular season in 7th place, the South Sydney Rabbitohs qualified for the finals, and a second elimination finals tie against bitter rivals the Sydney Roosters. The Souths won that tie 14-30, and advanced to the semifinals, where the club defeated the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks 12-38. In the preliminary finals, the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Penrith Panthers faced-off at the Accor Stadium, with the Panthers – the eventual premiers – winning 32-12. Despite failing to win the premiership in 2022, the South Sydney Rabbitohs remains the NRL’s most decorated side, with 21 premierships.
The 2023 NRL finals will take place across 3 consecutive weeks; it begins in early September, following the conclusion of the regular season, and ends with the grand final, which is provisionally scheduled for 1 October. In total, 8 teams qualify for the finals, with each team knocked-out after 1 or 2 losses, depending on where they finished in the NRL table at the end of the regular season. By the end of the 3 weeks of finals matches, only 2 teams will remain – these sides will contest the grand final.

How to get Cheap Tickets
South Sydney Rabbitohs match tickets can vary in price depending on factors such as the calibre of the opposition team, the venue in which a given match is taking place, and the seating location within the stadium for which the tickets are valid. Matches against successful or famous teams are likely to command higher ticket prices, whilst cheap tickets are more likely to be available for matches against weaker or less illustrious sides. Moreover, ticket prices for games in modern or iconic stadia will usually be higher than those at smaller venues or stadiums with less facilities. Finally, seats with better views, such as those located close to the halfway line, are likely to command higher prices than seats in other areas, for example behind the posts. Koobit compares the prices offered by both primary and secondary sellers, to help you find the perfect ticket at the most affordable price possible.
