The Wests Tigers are a professional rugby league team which competes in Australia's National Rugby League (NRL). They are based in the Western and Inner West areas of Sydney, New South Wales.
📜 Wests Tigers History
Formed following the 1999 NRL season, the Wests Tigers are a joint-venture club, the result of a merger between the Balmain Tigers and the Western Suburbs Magpies. The merger ensured that both sets of fans, as well as 2 stellar rugby league legacies, would not be lost as a result of the financial and organisational constraints of the approaching 2000 season. Indeed, by 1999 the 2 sides had won 15 premiership titles between them.
Wests Tigers reached their first finals in 2005, after finishing the regular season in 4th place, and progressed through to the grand final. There they met the North Queensland Cowboys, and, thanks to a 30-16 win, became one of the only sides, and the first in nearly a century, to win the grand final in their debut finals appearance.
The Tigers' traditional home colours are gold, black, and white.
