I had been to the Mosconi cup in 2019 with several friends and family. We had a great time then and planned to go again. We decided to go again in 2024, liking the fact that it was held in Florida and not Las Vegas. This time it was a disappointment for all of us. Not the players, they all did a great job and played fantastic. The PLAYERS would get a 5-star rating, but the terrible noise killed the entertainment rating. The worst part was the 36 loudspeakers that BLASTED music after every game at about 150 db. This was not a rock concert, what was the reason for that? We all hated it, and it was loud even with earplugs. They even blasted the music while they were having interviews with the players?? I surely would have preferred to hear the interview. The other problem was the drunken obnoxious fans, why have a bar right in the arena? Probably only 10 percent of the spectators, but there was no control taken of the fans who hollered and cussed while the players were shooting. I was embarrassed to be an American. All of us decided we NEVER want to go back.

What a disappointment. I was only able to buy cheap seats for the last night. Ticketmaster required you to buy each night separately and by the time I tried to get another night, everything was sold out. Needless to say I wasn’t going to travel from California to Florida for so-so seats on the last day
Koobit’s making me aware of the pool tournament dates and the ease of obtaining tickets made for a very enjoyable experience for me and my son. Thanks!
I had a very good experience at the U.S. Open. It appeared well run and the other attendees were all polite and they seemed to be having a good time also. One thing I felt was lacking was that there wasn’t any handouts or ways to find out about the rules and format of the competition. I had ask various people. I enjoyed being there!
“Nine-ball is rotation pool. The balls are pocketed in numbered order. The only ball that means anything, that wins it, is the 9.” The Color of Money
Pre-dating snooker, pocket billiards, or pool, was a favourite sport of the French and English nobility in the 18th century. However, it was in the United States that the game really came to life. In the late 1800s, professional pool players in the US were so popular that they featured on cigarette cards. Even Hollywood couldn’t resist racking it up for a game, and in 1961 Paul Newman starred as a pool shark looking to win big in The Hustler.
Although there are countless variations of the game of pool, nine-ball remains the most popular with fans and TV audiences thanks to the fast-paced action and high emotions of events like the Mosconi Cup.
Pool is a modern billiard sport played upon a cloth-covered table. It requires players to use cue sticks, or "cues", to send balls into openings around the table known as "pockets". In nine-ball pool, the sport’s most popular format, the most important thing to remember is that the cue ball (white ball) must always hit the lowest-numbered ball on the table before it comes into contact with any other ball.
Ultimately, the winner of a nine-ball pool game is the player who pots the 9-ball. This can be achieved in 2 ways – either by potting balls 1–8 before directly potting the 9-ball (as it is now the lowest-numbered ball on the table) or by hitting a “cannon” shot, in which the lowest-numbered ball is used to send the 9-ball into a pocket. For example, a player could hit the 1-ball, which could, in turn, send the 9-ball into the pocket. Even though balls 1–8 had not been potted, this would be a legal, winning shot as the player hit the correct (lowest-numbered) ball on the table first.
In nine-ball pool, missing a shot, or hitting the wrong ball, ends a player’s turn and brings their opponent to the table. No matter how many balls they have potted to that point, the winner of the game is the player who pots the 9-ball.
