Multi-sport events typically take place over several days and consist of various games and competitions across numerous sporting disciplines, with the most famous and largest multi-sport event being the Olympic Games.
Many major multi-sport events often resemble the Olympic Games but are for athletes from particular regions i.e. regional multi-sport events (Asian Games, Pan-American Games, African Games, and Pacific Games), sub-regions (Southeast Asian Games and South American Games), or places with a shared history i.e. historical multi-sport events (Commonwealth Games). Multi-sport events like the Paralympics and Special Olympics feature athletes with physical or intellectual disabilities - and these often consist of the most recognised sporting events for athletes with disabilities - and events for competitors from the same occupation, religion, or age.
Not all events resemble the Olympics, as events like the World Games, X Games, and numerous others showcase alternative sports. A wide scope of multi-sport events take place all over the world, and if you can think of an athlete niche, there's probably a multi-sport event based around it.
