The North Queensland Cowboys are an Australian National Rugby League (NRL) side based in Townsville, North Queensland.
📜 North Queensland Cowboys History
In 1995, the North Queensland Cowboys joined the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) Premiership - a forerunner of the NRL - but they initially struggled to emulate the success of fellow Queenslanders the Brisbane Broncos, who had joined the league in the late 1980s.
In the early 2000s the Cowboys began looking like NRL finals contenders, and match attendances began increasing as a result, but it took until 2004 for the Cowboys to eventually reach the finals. In 2005 they again reached the finals, but lost the grand final to Wests Tigers. In 2015, the Cowboys won their first and, and to date only, NRL title, beating the Broncos 17-16 in a thrilling golden point grand final.
The Cowboys' traditional home colours are gold, white, and navy blue.
