Suzuka is a small city on Ise Bay in southeastern Japan that is best known for hosting Japan’s annual Grand Prix. However, there is so much more to Suzaka, from its beaches to its temples and shrines. Millions of people flock to the city each year to see the Tsubaki Grand Shrine, one of the most historically and culturally important shrines in the country. With Japan’s fourth largest city Nagoya to the north, its most historic city Kyoto to the west, and the breathtaking Ise-Shima National Park to the south, Suzuka is the perfect city from which to explore the highlights of southeastern Japan.
To reach Suzuka, travel to Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO) in Nagoya which provides direct flights to and from many major cities worldwide. This airport is located 80 km east of Suzuka, which can be reached in around 1 hour and 20 minutes by car or train. To reach the city by train, take the Meitetsu-Limited Express to Meitetsu Nagoya Station followed by the Kintetsu Limited Express from the neighbouring Kintetsu Nagoya Station to Shiroko Station.
Suzuka is usually cool in March, with highs of 12°C and an average temperature of 8°C. The climate tends to be damp, with an average 31% chance of rain each day.
