Over the last decade, the Houston Astros have achieved a level of success that some MLB teams have not achieved in their entire history. Since 2015, the franchise has made the playoffs 7 times in 8 attempts, reached the World Series 4 times, and won it all twice. With the tricky second World Series now in the trophy cabinet, the Astros will have their eyes on history as they attempt to become the first team since the 2000 Yankees to win the Commissioner's Trophy back-to-back.

2023 Rivals
The Houston Astros’ main rivalry is with fellow Texas and AL West team the Texas Rangers, however, a rivalry with the Los Angeles Dodgers has also been rekindled in recent years.
The Astros-Dodgers rivalry originally began as a divisional rivalry when, for many years, the 2 teams were members of the NL West. In 1994, when the Astros left the division, the rivalry cooled off, only to regain its intensity sifgnificantly in 2017. Having defeated the Dodgers in the World Series of that year, it soon became clear that the Astros made use of a sign-stealing system throughout the season. The injustice felt on the Dodgers' part caused a great deal of hostility, and games between the 2 sides remain fiery.
Closer to home, the Houston Astros' main rivals are the Texas Rangers. As teams sharing a division and state, the Astros-Rangers rivalry developed naturally, and games between the 2 sides are now known as the Lone Star Series (or Silver Boot Series). The winners of the most games between the Astros and Rangers each season not only earn bragging rights for the year, but also receive a silver cowboy boot trophy. While the Rangers (from the Dallas-Fort Worth area) dominated the rivalry in the early 2010s, the Astros took control from 2017, winning every Silver Boot between 2017–2022. As of 17 May, the Texas Rangers lead the 2023 Lone Star Series 3–2.
The Houston Astros will play the Texas Rangers 10 more times this season:

The Astros' last World Series win was last season, in 2022, when they defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 4–2.
The 2023 MLB Postseason will take place in October, once the regular season has ended. 12 teams qualify for the MLB Postseason, which is a 4-round playoff system: Wild Card Round (Best-of-3), Division Series (Best-of-5), Championship Series (Best-of-7), and World Series (Best-of-7).
