📜 Texas Rangers History
A franchise established in 1961, the Texas Rangers began life in Washington DC as the Washington Senators before moving to Arlington, Texas in 1971. Named after the famous Texas Rangers police force, the Rangers have been resident in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex ever since.
After beginning their Texas journey at Arlington Stadium, the Rangers moved to nearby Globe Life Park in 1994. The stadium operated as home for just 15 years, and in 2020, a focus on improving fan experience led the Rangers to move to a highly modern, climate-controlled ballpark with a retractable roof – Globe Life Field.
For many years, the Rangers were one of 6 teams never to have won the World Series, coming closest to glory in 2010 & 2011 when the team suffered back-to-back defeats in the Fall Classic at the hands of the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals. However, following a rebuild in the late 2010s and early 2020s, the Rangers blew away the competition in 2023 with a power-hitting style that took them all the way to a World Series win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, earning the franchise its very first Commissioner's Trophy.
