Looking Back on the 2023 Formula 1 Season
There is no question that 2023 was Max Verstappen’s year. Coming into the season with 2 consecutive World Drivers’ Championships under his belt, the young Dutchman quickly pulled ahead of his competition once again, backing up his previous achievements with win after win. Of the 22 Grands Prix held in 2023, Verstappen claimed first place in 19 and was on the podium in 21 – both new records for the competition.
Sergio Pérez triumphed in Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan, while Carlos Sainz Jr. took first place in Singapore. Despite these victories, Verstappen finished the season with almost 300 more points than Pérez, his closest competition.

Driver & Team Changes for 2024
For the first time in Formula 1 history, all the drivers who finished the 2023 season will return for the same team in 2024. The only change from the start of the previous season is the switch from Nyck de Vries to Daniel Ricciardo at AlphaTauri, but this change went into effect from the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix onwards.
The team list looks slightly different in the new season, however, with Alfa Romeo rebranding as Stake F1 Team following a split from Swiss company Sauber.
Predictions for the New F1 Season
Max Verstappen is a huge favourite to secure yet another Drivers’ Championship, which would be his fourth consecutive world title.
Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, and Sergio Pérez look the most likely challengers, but they will have their work cut out to stop Verstappen.
Verstappen’s team, Red Bull, is also expected to defend its Constructors’ Championship, having earned more than double the points of closest competitor Mercedes in 2023.
