One of baseball’s most historic and best-supported teams, the Chicago Cubs are a national treasure. Over the years, the team has survived a “curse” placed on them by a tavern owner, a record-breaking World Series drought of more than a century, as well as heartbreaking Postseason losses, and yet the club from Chicago’s North Side has remained a powerful force in the game. In a season that will also see the franchise head to the UK for the first time for MLB’s London Series, the Cubs will be hoping to make Wrigley Field a fortress and mount a challenge for the NL Central division title.

The Chicago Cubs will play 162 MLB games during the 2023 season – 81 at Wrigley Field, and 81 on the road.
2023 will be the first season of MLB’s new, more balanced, schedule, and the Chicago Cubs will face every other MLB team at least once. This year, the Cubs will play 13 games against each of their fellow NL Central teams ( St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, and Pittsburgh Pirates); 64 intraleague games (v non-division NL teams); and 46 interleague games (v AL teams).
As of 7 June, the Cubs boast a 26–34 record for the 2023 season. In their next game, on 7 June, the Chicago-based team will face the LA Angels at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. The Cubs will bring their regular season to a close on 1 October this year when they face divisional rivals the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field.

2023 Rivals
The Chicago Cubs' 3 main rivals are the Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago White Sox, and St. Louis Cardinals.
Dubbed the I-94 Series after the highway that separates the cities of Chicago and Milwaukee, the Cubs-Brewers rivalry was born out of proximity and the fact that the 2 teams share a division. With just 85 miles between home stadiums, Cubs and Brewers fans travel in large numbers to games at both Wrigley Field and American Family Field, ensuring atmosphere at these events is always spectacular.
Like any 2 teams that share a city, the Cubs-White Sox rivalry is about local pride. Over the years, the series has gone by many names, from the Crosstown Classic to The Windy City Showdown, and when the North Side meets the South Side, tensions are always high. One of the most historic and enduring rivalries in all of sport, the Cubs and White Sox have only met once in the Postseason – in the 1906 World Series, when the Sox were victorious by 4 games to 2.
Arguably the Chicago Cubs' biggest rivalry is with division mates and longtime foes the St. Louis Cardinals. The Route 66 Series (both cities are located on that famous road) has seen the Cubs and Cardinals face off in over 2000 games and, unlike some rivalries, has remained deeply competitive. With 2 of the best fanbases, 2 of the best stadiums, over 100 years of history, and divisional bragging rights at stake, this really is one of the greatest rivalries in baseball.
The Chicago Cubs will play the St. Louis Cardinals 7 times this season, including 2 games at London Stadium for MLB’s London Series:

2023 Postseason and World Series
The Chicago Cubs have made the MLB Postseason 21 times in their history. The franchise has won 3 World Series – back-to-back successes in 1907 & 1908, and a triumph in 2016 that shattered a 108-year championship drought.
Over the past 10 years, the Cubs have made the playoffs 5 times, most recently in 2020, when they were eliminated by the Miami Marlins in the NL Wild Card Series.
The 2023 MLB Postseason will begin in October, once the regular season has ended. 12 teams qualify for the MLB Postseason, which is a 4-round playoff system: Wild Card Round (Best-of-3), Division Series (Best-of-5), Championship Series (Best-of-7), and World Series (Best-of-7).
