One of the oldest and most successful teams in MLB history, the St. Louis Cardinals franchise was founded back in 1882. Originally known as the St. Louis Brown Stockings, or Browns, the team became the Cardinals in 1900, and has since gone on to become one of the most valuable and well-supported organizations in professional American sport. In fact, the Cardinals large, loyal fan base regularly packs out Busch Stadium, as well as offering a sizeable presence at opposing teams' stadiums when the Redbirds play on the road.
Over the course of their celebrated history, the Cardinals have won 11 World Series championships (second-most in MLB), 19 National League championships, and 14 division titles.
