The Boston Red Sox are a team steeped in history. From their beloved home, Fenway Park (the oldest stadium in baseball), to their roots as one of the American League’s 8 charter franchises, the team’s cultural significance is matched only by its success on the field – 9 World Series wins, 14 American League pennants, and 10 AL East division titles.
While the AL East throws up a seemingly endless supply of tough games against the likes of the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays, the BoSox are determined to return to the World Series for the first time since they won it all in 2018. Established talents such as Chris Sale, Rafael Devers, and Justin Turner will be the players pulling on the famous Red Sox uniform and swinging for the Fenway fences in an attempt to make it happen in 2023.

2023 Rivals
The highly competitive AL East provides the Boston Red Sox with no shortage of tough matchups, but the franchise’s main 2 rivals are the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays.
The Red Sox-Rays rivalry has grown out of recent battles between the 2 sides for the AL East division title. While it doesn't have the history of the Red Sox' rivalry with the Yankees, it continues to deliver high-pressure, high-quality games every year
The New York Yankees are the Red Sox’ main rivals, and the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry is one of the oldest in American sport. For more than 120 years, the 2 teams have battled one another in the American League, and close geographical proximity adds fuel to the fire. The rivalry is also intertwined with "The Curse of the Bambino" – a superstition that, when the Red Sox traded baseball great Babe Ruth to the Yankees in 1919, they triggered a curse that caused their 86-year World Series drought. Today, games between the Yankees and Red Sox remain some of MLB's most highly-anticipated encounters.
The New York Yankees will face the Boston Red Sox 13 times this season:

Over the course of the last 10 years, the Red Sox have appeared in the playoffs 4 times. The franchise last made the Postseason in 2021, when they lost 4–2 to the Houston Astros in the AL Championship Series.
The 2023 MLB Postseason will take place in October, once the regular season has ended. 12 teams qualify for the MLB Postseason, which is a 4-round playoff system: Wild Card Round (Best-of-3), Division Series (Best-of-5), Championship Series (Best-of-7), and World Series (Best-of-7).
