📜 Toronto Blue Jays History
Often referred to as "Canada's Team", the Toronto Blue Jays are a professional baseball team in MLB, and the only current member of the league from outside the United States. Founded in 1977, the team was an expansion franchise, joining MLB alongside the Seattle Mariners. After originally playing their games at Exhibition Stadium, the Blue Jays moved to the CN Tower-adjacent SkyDome in time for the 1989 season. The franchise remains at the SkyDome (now known as Rogers Centre) to this day.
The Toronto Blue Jays' most successful period arrived in the early 1990s when the side was crowned World Series Champions on 2 occasions – in 1992 and 1993 – making them one of only a handful of teams to win the Fall Classic in back-to-back seasons. The franchise has also won the AL East division 6 times.
Roberto Alomar, Dave Stieb, and Jose Bautista are some of the names baseball fans most commonly associate with the Blue Jays down the years, however, in recent times, the franchise has assembled a young core of future stars ready to return the team to its former heights. Led by the likes of Vladimir Guerrero Jr and Bo Bichette, the Blue Jays are once again one of the most exciting teams in baseball, and a side destined for further glory.
