Overview
- ⏱️4 daysApproximate duration
The Maryland 5 Star is a 3-day event in the sport of equestrian and is held annually at Fair Hill near Elkton, Maryland in the United States of America. As is common in modern 3-day eventing, this meet is held over 4 days.
In 1989, Maryland hosted its first event at 3-star level and the tradition of eventing at iconic Fair Hill continues to this day but has become a 5-star event, 1 of only 2 in the United States. The Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill signals an exciting new era for Maryland and the historic horse and equestrian culture in the USA.
It is one of only 7 annual Concours Complet International (CCI) 5-star events in the world (the highest level of competition) as classified by the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) and the only one held in France. The 6 other CCI 5 Stars are the Burghley Horse Trials, the Badminton Horse Trials, the Kentucky 3-Day Event, the Australian International 3-Day Event, the Étoiles de Pau, and the Luhmühlen Horse Trials.
