The Kentucky 3-Day Event is an eventing competition held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky in the United States of America.
The first horse trials were held at the Kentucky Horse Park in 1976 and they acted as a preparation event for the 1978 World Championships with the success of both events ensuring the 3-Day Event was made an annual occurrence. It is a 5-star event which is the highest level of competition in the sport. Significant prize money, as well as a Rolex watch, is awarded to the first place horse and rider. Although the event's name continues to reflect its original format as a 3-day competition, the Kentucky 3-Day Event takes place over 4 days (from Thursday through to Sunday) similar to many modern 3-day events.
The Kentucky 3-Day Event is held the last weekend of April, before the Kentucky Derby. It is one of the 3 events – with the Badminton Horse Trials and the Burghley Horse Trials – in the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing.
