Silverstone Circuit's rural location means local hotels and b&bs are in more limited supply, and they can get pricey during big events. However, if you travel a little further out to the larger towns in the area, there are a much wider choice of budget and mid-range hotels. Alternatively, take advantage of the open green spaces, and enjoy the surrounding campsites, many of which are within walking distance of the circuit.
To be as near to the circuit as possible, Silverstone village is approximately 2 km (30 min) walk to the circuit; however, accommodation sells out quickly for event days. Slightly further afield, there are a variety of villages and small towns dotted around the area including Towcester and Brackley, which offer small hotels and b&bs, and are a short drive to the circuit.
Approximately 20 km south-east of the circuit is Milton Keynes, which is a relatively inexpensive town to visit with plenty of low-cost accommodation options. Northampton is 23 km to the north-east of the circuit, which also offers a good choice of budget accommodation, as well as more mid-range hotels than Milton Keynes.
For a wider range of luxury accommodation including fine hotels and boutique b&bs, you may want to consider Oxford, which is 40 km south-west of the circuit.
If you prefer to stay in the city, both London and Birmingham have a huge choice of accommodation from budget to luxury, and provide train connections to Milton Keynes and Northampton. However, travel to the circuit will typically take a couple of hours and so these locations might not suit all visitors.
Alternatively, if you're game for camping, then you'll be spoilt for choice. The pastures and fields directly surrounding the circuit are populated with a mixture of permanent and temporary campsites, many of which are within walking distance of the circuit.
When choosing where to stay, we recommend considering it alongside your preferred transport method to the venue. If you're not planning to drive, then you will likely find it easier to stay within walking distance or in one of the larger towns for easier public transport, as it can be challenging to access taxi services during the big events. See the Travel & Parking section for more information on getting to Silverstone Circuit.
Camping is very popular for larger Silverstone events, with enthusiastic fans filling the surrounding fields and creating a special atmosphere for up to a week around the event. There are a wide range of campsites, both permanent and temporary, offering a host of options including basic pitches, pre-erected tents, glamping, huts, and motorhome facilities. The main campsites include:
