🏟️ Address: Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Parc Jean-Drapeau, Montréal, Québec, H3C 6A1, Canada Directions in Google Maps
The circuit does not offer any designated parking for spectators, and its location on an island in the middle of a large park means it is difficult to find public parking nearby.
Guests travelling by car may find that the most convenient option is to park close to a Metro station and then take the Metro the rest of the way to the circuit. Useful stations for this method include:
A passenger drop off point is provided for taxis on St Helen’s Island, near the Concorde Bridge. During major events at the circuit, however, this area can become extremely congested. Fans who want to avoid the traffic might prefer to take the Metro or cross the bridge back into Downtown Montreal, where taxis are plentiful.
Although Montreal has a large bus network, it is strongly recommended for passengers to take the Metro rather than the bus to the circuit, as traffic can become highly congested during event days and many roads are temporarily closed.
The Montreal Bus Terminal is a short walk from the Berri-UQAM Metro station, which is just 4 minutes by train from Jean-Drapeau, the closest station to the circuit. The terminal is serviced by nearly 300 buses per day, with routes to cities in Quebec, Ottawa, New York state, and many other parts of North America.
Metro (also known as STM) is by far the most popular method of transport, as the Jean-Drapeau station is located a short walk from the circuit – between 1.5 km (18 min) and 2.0 km (24 min) depending on your eventual destination. The closest grandstands to the station are 15, 21, 24, and 34. Jean-Drapeau is on the Yellow line only, but fans who need the Orange or Green lines can take a 5 minute Metro journey from Jean-Drapeau to Berri-UQAM, which is serviced by all 3 lines.
Metro tickets can be bought at the station or in advance, with pricing as follows:
Other options, such as 2 trip or 10 trip tickets, are also available. Full information can be found on the STM website.
Metro trains typically run every 8-10 minutes on weekends, but extra trains are added for busy periods, such as Grand Prix weekend.
Navettes Maritimes runs a river shuttle service, with boats travelling to Île Ste-Hélène (an island next to the circuit inside Parc Jean-Drapeau) from Longueuil and the Old Port. Services typically run once every hour, but during Grand Prix weekend there are extra shuttles to accommodate more passengers. The journeys from both Longueuil and the Old Port take 15-20 minutes, and the walk from Île Ste- Hélène to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve takes 10-15 minutes.
Single trip tickets cost CAD $5.50, with children aged 11 years old and younger travelling free when accompanied by a passenger over 14 years old. Tickets can be booked in advance online.
The circuit is located in a large park space with many pedestrian routes, but its island location makes the walk from downtown Montreal quite inconvenient. From Gare Centrale, the circuit is a @@6700@@ walk away.
