Newmarket Racecourse – consisting of the Rowley Mile Course and the July Course – is widely considered the birthplace and global centre of thoroughbred horse racing and is often referred to as the headquarters of British racing. Gold Season is the time of year when Newmarket once again becomes the hub for the international racing industry as it hosts several significant meetings.
Cesarewitch Trial Day kicked off Gold Season on 18 September with Turnpike Trip winning the feature race. The day was linked to the Henry Cecil Open Weekend which gave visitors the rare opportunity to see behind the scenes and meet the sport’s biggest equine stars. The ever-popular 3-day Cambridgeshire Meeting (23-25 September) saw some impressive and surprise victories. After Saffron Beach was golden at Sun Chariot Day (2 October), Dubai Future Champions Day (8-9 October) featured some thrilling future stars followed by an after-racing DJ set by Matt Edmondson.
On 20 October, Two-Year-Old Day showcased some of the best up-and-coming racing talents. Don’t feel as though you’ve missed everything as there’s still one meeting left at the home of flat racing; The Final Meeting (29-30 October). The Rowley Mile Course rounds the season off with a spooktacular meeting ideal for a fun day out with some friends or perfect for families during half term with Halloween outfits welcomed.

Racing will be back at Newmarket in 2022 when the Rowley Mile hosts the Craven Meeting from 12-14 April and tickets are already on sale for the incredible Guineas Festival (30 April-1 May). The meeting includes 2 of the UK’s 5 Classic Races - the 1000 Guineas and the 2000 Guineas – which are the oldest and most important English races of the flat racing season. The most prestigious meeting at the July Course, the July Festival (7-9 July) epitomises summer and is also on sale now.

Don’t trick but treat yourself by grabbing your tickets for a day at Newmarket races. If you can’t wait until next year to get your racing fix, the National Hunt season is beginning to jump into action: take a look at all horse racing events here!
