The Dubai Future Champions Festival is a flat racing meeting held at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile course. As the name suggests, it is an opportunity to witness the stars of the future with the horse all being 2 years old, but that doesn’t mean the action is any less thrilling. Huge names in racing such as Frankel have previously been champions at this meeting.
In 2011 the British Champions Series was launched and some of the major races at the end of the flat season were redistributed between Ascot to create British Champions Day as the climax to the Series, and Newmarket for Future Champions Day as a finale for young horses.
The 2-day event is the highlight of Newmarket’s Gold Season which – along with the Cesarewitch Trial Meeting, the Cambridgeshire Meeting, and Sun Chariot Day – showcases the horse racing talents of the future. Juvenile runners over the course of the 4-week Gold Season are likely to go on to become the victors of tomorrow.
