The European Championships in any discipline are seen as the continental pinnacle of a sportsperson’s career, so imagine being able to be a spectator at 9 different European Championships in one single city. The Bavarian capital of Munich - with its neo-Gothic and Bauernhaus architecture and infamous beer culture - will host a spectacular array of sporting disciplines from 11-21 August at some stunning venues throughout the city, most of which are based around the beautiful Olympiapark.

The amalgamation of championships in one location, almost like a multi-sport event, is reasonably unique but a format that international sports organisations are looking at for the future to promote each discipline: for example, 2023 will see the majority of the UCI World Championships in cycling being held in and around Glasgow, Scotland.
The following European Championships will take place across 11 days of action at various venues across Munich:
- Athletics(15-21 August, Olympiastadion)
- Beach volleyball (15-21 August, Königsplatz)
- Canoe sprint (18-21 August, Olympic Regatta Centre)
- Cycling (road (14-21 August, various routes), track (11-16 August, Messe München), BMX Freestyle (11-13 August, Olympiapark), and mountain bike (19-20 August, Olympiapark))
- Artistic gymnastics (11-21 August, Olympiahalle)
- Rowing(11-14 August, Oberschleißheim Regatta Course)
- Sport climbing (11-18 August, Königsplatz)
- Table tennis (13-21 August, Rudi-Sedlmayer-Halle)
- Triathlon (12-14 August, Olympiapark)
Cycling’s 4 disciplines offer something for everyone with the sheer speed of track cycling, the skillful routines of BMX Freestyle, the endurance of road cycling, and the steady nerves of mountain biking. The latter 3 competitions are free to watch and tickets for the track cycling start at EUR €15 (GBP £13 / USD $15).

Athletics at European competition level is truly something to behold with the continent’s fastest, strongest, and toughest athletes competing for victory. The track and field events will be held in Olympiastadion and tickets start at just €20 (£17 / $20). After an incredible World Championships in Rome just a few months ago, the European beach volleyball players representing their countries will be looking to tower over opponents to claim the European title. That is just a taste of the action set to unfold during the Championships!
