The European Athletics Championships is a biennial athletics event organised by the European Athletics Association (EAA). The Championships first took place in Turin in 1934 and used to be held every 4 years.
Since 2010, the event has been held every 2 years, though marathons and racewalks are not contested when they coincide with the Summer Olympics. The European Athletics Championships will consist of several disciplines, including a mix of track and field events that will test each athlete's speed, strength, and agility. Athletes will compete in various throwing, jumping, and running heats, aiming to qualify for the final stages of the competition, where there will be gold medals up for grabs.
After Rome hosted in 2024, the European Athletics Championships will next be held at Alexander Stadium between 10-16 August 2026
