Out in the desert, Phoenix’s Arizona Diamondbacks are enjoying a revival. After just 1 playoff appearance in the last 10 years, the D-Backs are top of their division as the 2023 season approaches its halfway point and a firm part of the Postseason picture. More than 20 years after Randy Johnson led the team to its first World Series title, the Diamondbacks are hoping exciting young stars like Corbin Carroll and Jake McCarthy can lead Phoenix’s franchise back to the promised land.

2023 Schedule
The Arizona Diamondbacks will play 162 MLB games during the 2023 season – 81 at Chase Field, and 81 on the road.
2023 is the first season of MLB’s new, more balanced, schedule, and the Arizona Diamondbacks will face every other MLB team at least once. This year, the Diamondbacks will play 13 games against each of their fellow NL West teams ( Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies, San Diego Padres, and San Francisco Giants); 64 intraleague games (v non-division NL teams); and 46 interleague games (v AL teams).
As of 3 July, the Diamondbacks boast a 50–36 record for the 2023 season. In their next game, on 5 July, the Phoenix-based team will take on the New York Mets at Chase Field. The Diamondbacks will bring their regular season to a close on 1 October this year when they face AL West team the Houston Astros at home.
You can find the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 2023 Regular Season schedule here.
2023 Rivals
The Arizona Diamondbacks' main rivals are the Los Angeles Dodgers. As well as being relatively close geographically – many other Phoenix-based teams also have rivalries with Los Angeles franchises – the D-Backs and Dodgers are both members of the NL West, and have occasionally tussled for the division title. The D-Backs-Dodgers rivalry escalated in the 2010s, and Dodgers players even celebrated winning the NL West in 2013 by jumping in the Chase Field pool. Another close divisional battle added fuel to the fire in 2023.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will play the Los Angeles Dodgers 5 more times this season:
- Arizona Diamondbacks v Los Angeles Dodgers · 8 Aug 2023
- Arizona Diamondbacks v Los Angeles Dodgers · 9 Aug 2023
- Los Angeles Dodgers v Arizona Diamondbacks · 28 Aug 2023
- Los Angeles Dodgers v Arizona Diamondbacks · 29 Aug 2023
- Los Angeles Dodgers v Arizona Diamondbacks · 30 Aug 2023
2023 Postseason and World Series
The Arizona Diamondbacks have made the MLB Postseason 6 times in their history. The franchise has won 1 World Series, defeating the New York Yankees to win the championship in 2001.
Over the past 10 years, the Diamondbacks have made the playoffs just once, in 2017, when they were defeated at the NL Divisional stage by the LA Dodgers.
The 2023 MLB Postseason will begin in October, once the regular season has ended. 12 teams qualify for the MLB Postseason, which is a 4-round playoff system: Wild Card Round (Best-of-3), Division Series (Best-of-5), Championship Series (Best-of-7), and World Series (Best-of-7).

The dynamic pricing system used by many sellers means that prices can fluctuate, but some things are guaranteed – for example, Regular Season tickets will always be cheaper than those in the Postseason, and Opening Day tickets will always be in high demand.
