Silverstone Circuit is located in the countryside, approximately 20 km from both Northampton and Milton Keynes.
Below you can find general information on travel and parking for Silverstone Circuit. Individual events may have additional/restricted services available, and so we recommend clicking through to the event and viewing the Travel & Parking tab for event-specific information.
Silverstone Circuit parking is located in the areas directly surrounding the venue, predominately on the Luffield and Abbey side of the circuit. There is a limited amount of surfaced parking and, during larger events, parking is extended to adjacent grass areas.
Taxis can pick-up and drop-off near the main entrance to Silverstone Circuit. However, on big event days, there may be road restrictions in place which prevent access and so nearby Silverstone village will be the nearest taxi point.
Silverstone Circuit can be reached on a number of public bus routes:
Additional bus services are sometimes added for larger events. Check the event page for details relating to individual events.
Silverstone Circuit is in proximity to a number of main line rail stations:
On arrival at the station, you will need to organise a transfer to the circuit.
You can fly directly into Silverstone Circuit and land directly at Silverstone Heliport on the south-east side of the circuit. Charter flights must pre-book their landing slots or, alternatively, helicopter shuttle services are offered at the biggest events.
Silverstone Circuit's rural location means local hotels and b&bs are in more limited supply, and they can get pricey during big events. However, if you travel a little further out to the larger towns in the area, there are a much wider choice of budget and mid-range hotels. Alternatively, take advantage of the open green spaces, and enjoy the surrounding campsites, many of which are within walking distance of the circuit.
Bicycle racks are available at every entrance gate. Some events do not permit bikes inside the circuit, so please check the individual event's rules.
The rural location of Silverstone means that it is not really viable to walk to the circuit from any of the surrounding larger towns. However, if you are staying in Silverstone village or one of the nearby campsites, you may find walking more convenient and flexible than other transport methods. Check with your accommodation provider for the best route.
Entry gates are located around most of the circuit, but smaller entrances may not be open during quieter periods. The main entrance is located on the west of the circuit towards Luffield/Abbey. You may be subject to a security and bag check on arrival.
Once inside the circuit, you wan walk around the entire public area of the venue, and so you are welcome to use any of the open entrances to reach your viewing area.
Make sure you keep hold of your tickets after entry as they will be checked again to access grandstands, as well as if you exit and need to re-enter the circuit.
A mix of permanent and temporary toilet facilities are located through the venue. Most permanent toilets also provide wheelchair accessible facilities, which can be accessed using a radar key.
As well as viewing platforms, Silverstone Circuit provides a range assistance to disabled guests including steward assistance, medical help, wheelchair accessible toilets (these require a radar key), and accessible parking. Because of the large size of the venue, please contact the circuit with your requirements prior to booking tickets so they can assist and advise you for your personal needs.
Silverstone is a large venue and you will likely do a fair amount of walking as you explore. Even the walk from the parking areas to the viewing spots can take time. Therefore, choose comfort over style (or wow the crowds if you can combine both), and wear trainers or comfortable walking shoes.
If you're enjoying hospitality with a dress code, check the route from the entrance/parking to the hospitality area, and consider whether it's worth bringing a spare pair of shoes for the walk – particularly if you're in heels!
Silverstone Circuit has a capacity of approximately 150,000. However, the capacity does differ between events depending on the seating configuration.
