The St. Leger Festival is a horse racing meeting run on the flat so has no obstacles and is held over 4 days. Different races at the meeting are of varying lengths and have different numbers of runners and riders entered.
Day 1 is Ladies Day: not just for the girls despite the name, this day celebrates style with the fantastic Best Dressed competition.
Day 2 is Donnys Day featuring the iconic Doncaster Cup, the oldest race currently run under the rules of horse racing.
Day 3 is the peak of the meeting with the dramatic St. Leger Stakes. The oldest British Classic is a Group 1 race open to 3-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies (young male and female horses). It is run over a distance of 1 mile, 6 furlongs and 115 yards (2,921 metres). The race is the final leg of the Triple Crown after Newmarket's 2,000 Guineas and the Epsom Derby as well as serving as the final leg in the Fillies' Triple Crown after the 1,000 Guineas and the Epsom Oaks.
Day 4 is Sunday Funday showcasing great horse racing and includes the Leger Legends charity race.
Doncaster Racecourse has a fantastic range of eateries and bars whether youβre looking for an elegant glass of bubbly at the Champagne Lawn or wanting to grab a quick bite to eat in the food court.
Picnics are only permitted in the Family Enclosure at the racecourse. Please note that no drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) may not be brought into any area of the racecourse. Barbecues are not permitted in any part of the course.
The racecourse provides free drinking water at all bars across the site.
Entry gates open approximately 2 hours before the first race.
