Hamilton is the home of the Waikato Chiefs at Waikato Stadium, 1 of 5 professional rugby teams that compete in the Super Rugby competition, the country’s top-tier tournament. It is also home to the Hamilton Wanderers AFC, a professional Association club that plays in the ISPS Handa Premiership, New Zealand’s top football tier.
