The Principality of Monaco may be the world's second-smallest country, but it owns an oversized reputation as the preferred playground of the world's most fashionable movers and shakers. Synonymous with glamour and glitz, the principality is home to a prosperous, well-tanned populace that adores Monaco’s abundant sunshine and laid-back yacht-and-tennis lifestyle. While parts of this Mediterranean microstate aren’t all postcard-pretty, you are sure to be smitten with the romance of the Monaco-Ville district and the Belle Epoque opulence at the Monte-Carlo Casino.
Monaco’s primary airport is Nice Cote d’Azur Airport (NCE), which offers direct flights to many major cities throughout Europe, as well as New York and Dubai. The airport is located 26 km south-west of Monaco, which can be reached in around 30 minutes by car, taxi, or shuttle bus, or in 1 hour by taking the Marseille-Aix-Brignoles-Nice train from the airport to Vauban, followed by the Ventimiglia train from Nice Riquier to Monaco-Monte-Carlo Station. If you want to arrive in extra style, you can also take a helicopter transfer from the airport, which takes about 10 minutes.
