ποΈ Address:Β Baku City Circuit, Zarifa Aliyeva, Baku, Azerbaijan Directions in Google Maps
As the Baku circuit uses public roads, there is no official parking provided. Many local streets are closed during racing events, so traffic is very congested and it is difficult to access the circuit by car. Driving is therefore strongly discouraged.
Some visitors use taxis or rideshare services to reach the circuit, but road closures and diversions can make this a tedious way to travel. Taxi drivers do not always use their meters, so it's a good idea to agree a fare before you start your journey.
Journeys around Baku usually cost around 0.7 AZN per kilometre.
Baku is served by many bus routes, and extra services are often provided during major events like the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The most useful routes and bus stops for the circuit include:
The circuit can be accessed on foot in less than 30 minutes from each of these stops, and buses stop every few minutes.
There are 2 types of bus in Baku: old buses that operate with cash only, and new red Bakubus vehicles that only take BakiKART or Bakucard payment. The BakiKART is usually the best option for visitors, as a paper card can be loaded with up to 4 trips. The Bakucard includes free bus and metro travel, plus discounts in cafes and tourist attractions, but it is more expensive to purchase and probably not worth it for the free travel alone, as public transport in Baku is so cheap. A standard trip on any bus costs 0.20 AZN.
The metro stations located closest to the circuit include 28 May (to the north) and Icheri Sheher (to the west), both less than 10 minutes away on foot. 28 May is served by both the red and green lines, while Icheri Sheher sees red line trains only.
Trains can get very crowded at peak times, but journeys are only 0.30 AZN (payable by BakiKART or free with Bakucard β see Coach & Bus Travel Information). Trains usually run from 06:00 to 00:00, but during the week of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, both 28 May and Icheri Sheher stay open until 02:00 from Friday to Sunday.
The old city of Baku is quite walkable, but other parts of the city are more difficult due to very busy traffic. Underground walkways can make it easier to cross the most congested roads.
Walking is trickier when roads are closed around the Baku City Circuit, as diversions will be in place.
