The NHL Global Series acts as the perfect opportunity for hockey fans from around the globe to get to witness the world’s greatest current teams and players as the league lands right on their doorstep.
2023 NHL Global Series Melbourne
In 2023, the first games to be announced for the Global Series are taking place at the iconic Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne Park, Melbourne in Victoria, Australia and they will be preseason games. The first game will be on Saturday 23 September and the second will take place the following day on Sunday 24 September: both with a puck-drop of 14:00. The 2 travelling teams – the Arizona Coyotes and the Los Angeles Kings – will both be hoping to serve up an ace and win match point in the prestigious home of Australian tennis.

Tickets, hospitality, and accommodation packages are already on sale with the most affordable tickets available at just AUD $75.80 (USD $50 / GBP £41).
This year, the Yotes and the Kings – of the Central and Pacific divisions respectively – will be traveling to Oz to compete in 2 games against one another. Although Arizona have not had the most successful 2022-23 season and failed to reach the playoffs unlike Los Angeles, the 2 teams have quite an even head-to-head record.
The NHL Global Series regularly visits European countries – with a handful of Chinese and Japanese games being the exceptions to an all-European selection – so this year is a bit of a break with tradition. In fact, this will be the first time Australia has been chosen to host the NHL international games. In 2022, the Nashville Predators and San Jose Sharks played exhibition games against SC Bern in Bern, Switzerland, and Eisbären Berlin in Berlin, Germany respectively before playing each other in 2 regular season fixtures in Prague, Czech Republic. Columbus Blue Jackets faced off against Colorado Avalanche in Tampere, Finland in November 2022.
2023 NHL Global Series Sweden
On Wednesday 26 April, the NHL also announced that there would be 4 regular season games taking place at the Avicii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden featuring the Detroit Red Wings, the Ottawa Senators, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Minnesota Wild. As regular season games, there will be more than pride to play for, as the teams will all be hoping for winning points. Tickets are due to go on sale on 3 May and the fixtures are as follows:
