Affectionately nicknamed “The Avs”, Colorado Avalanche are the only team in the National Hockey League (NHL) to have won all their Stanley Cup Finals appearances having been champions in 1996, 2001, and 2022. Although a few of their champion players from last season, like Nazem Kadri, have left for other teams, the Avalanche have held onto key stars like Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog and will be hoping with the help of their young core of players, they can make it back-to-back championships.

2022-23 Rivals
During the regular season, the Avalanche will play Arizona Coyotes, Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, St. Louis Blues, and Winnipeg Jets in their own division, the Central Division. They will also play Anaheim Ducks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks, Seattle Kraken, Vancouver Canucks, and Vegas Golden Knights from the other Western Conference division, the Pacific Division.
Colorado Avalanche’s main rivals are the Detroit Red Wings. The rivalry stems from the 1996 Western Conference Finals when a crunching tackle left the Red Wings’ Kris Draper requiring surgery. They have 2 scheduled meet-ups in the 2022-23 regular season:
- Colorado Avalanche v Detroit Red Wings · 16 Jan 2023
- Detroit Red Wings v Colorado Avalanche · 18 Mar 2023
2022-23 Playoffs and Finals
Colorado Avalanche have reached the NHL playoffs 27 times in their history. They have won the Stanley Cup 3 times.
The 2023 playoffs will begin after the regular season has finished in mid-April. Of the 32 regular season teams, 16 qualify with 8 from each conference (the top 3 teams from each division plus 2 conference teams with the next highest points). There are 4 rounds of best-of-7 series: first round with 16 teams in 8 x best-of-7 series; second round with 8 teams in 4 x best-of-7 series; Conference Finals with 4 teams in 2 x best-of-7 series; and the Stanley Cup Finals with 2 teams in 1 x best-of-7 series to determine who lifts the Stanley Cup.
2022-23 Tickets & Prices
Colorado Avalanche play their home games at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. The arena has a capacity of 21,000 with the average attendance for Avalanche games just under 18,000. Adult ticket prices including fees start from as low as USD $20 for basic tickets to $26,039 for the most premium tickets. The average adult ticket starts at $60.
Standard Tickets
The Ball Arena has standard seating tickets on 2 main tiers:
- Lower (Section 100) – as close to the ice as you can get without joining the players! These are typically the most expensive standard tickets
- Upper (Section 300) – some of the most affordable tickets are on this level, but you will be sat further away from the ice than in other tiers
Premium, Hospitality & VIP Tickets
- Club (Section 200) – seats on this level offer incredible elevated views of the action as well as access to bars and eateries such as the Peak Pub House and Land Rover Denver Club
- Suites and Theatre Boxes – for a truly special experience where you can watch the game from private viewing areas either on the Club (Section 200) or Lower (Section 100) levels. There are customisable catering options, flat-screen TVs, padded comfortable seats, and much more
How to Get Cheap Tickets
Colorado Avalanche ticket prices are dynamic and similar ticket types can vary depending on who the Avs are playing, the day of the week the game is on (weekends are usually more expensive), and the stage of the league. Prices for the same game also change over time and between sellers. Sometimes there are last-minute bargains to be found for less in-demand games but waiting can also risk prices going up or tickets selling out if demand is high. Koobit compares prices from primary and secondary sellers to help you find the right tickets for you at the best price.
Where to Buy Tickets
You can purchase Colorado Avalanche tickets online or at the arena box office. Buying online is generally more reliable and convenient especially as Ball Arena tickets are all digital and scanned on entry. By purchasing your ticket online, you can easily compare options and prices and have the assurance of a guaranteed seat.
