World Athletics Indoor Tour

The World Athletics Indoor Tour is an annual series of athletics events held inside arenas and halls during the indoor track and field season. First held in 2016, the series was formed to mimic the Diamond League or the World Athletics Combined Tour in that all events within the series gave athletes the opportunity to gain ranking points which ultimately leads to qualification for the most prestigious athletics meetings. Organisers also intended to raise the profile of the indoor season to showcase year-long athletics to fans.

Event Format & Scoring

The World Athletics Indoor Tour is a series of indoor track and field meets where points earned in competitions go towards rankings which in turn lead to qualification for the biggest athletics events such as the World Athletics Indoor Championships or the European Athletics Indoor Championships. The World Athletics Indoor Tour expanded in 2021 to have 3 levels of competition with Gold, Silver, and Bronze. There are 7 meetings at Gold level.
