Visiting Wyoming Valley
Wyoming Valley is a 40km valley surrounded by hilly woodlands in northeast Pennsylvania. Abundant in coal, the valley became integral to the Industrial Revolution as a coal-mining region. Its coal-mining history is still very much present today from the active community of the Eckley Miner’s Village to the Lackawanna Coal Mine which provides tours in the mining tunnels which have remained unchanged for over 100 years. While Scranton and Wilkes-Barre will satisfy your city fix, it’s surrounding landscape will allow you to get back to nature. From Ricketts Glen State Park to the Seven Tubs Recreation Area, expect wildlife-rich woodlands with scenic creeks, rivers, and waterfalls galore.
