Visiting Louisville
Louisville, situated on the Ohio River at the Indiana border, is Kentucky’s largest and most popular city. It is also the proud home of boxing titan Mohammad Ali, and the Kentucky Derby. Inaugurated in 1875, the world-renowned horse race is still held annually at Churchill Downs. There’s a museum dedicated to both Ali and the derby in Downtown Louisville’s Museum Row, as well as its very own baseball’s very own bat producer, Slugger. When you’re not busy being cultured in Louisville’s museums, you’ll likely be sampling bourbon from its historic distilleries in the Bourbon District or licking your fingers after noshing on Kentucky fried chicken in the hip foodie haven, NuLu.
