They compete in the National Women’s Soccer League, the top tier of women’s football in the country, and share ownership links with men’s side Louisville City FC. The team play at Lynn Family Stadium in the city’s Butchertown neighbourhood, which was purpose-built for professional football and serves as a hub for both clubs’ training and youth development programmes.
Founded in 2019 as an NWSL expansion side, Racing Louisville began league play in 2021. In their early years they focused on building a strong club infrastructure, creating an academy system and bringing in a mix of experienced internationals and promising young players. They quickly gained attention by hosting and winning the inaugural Women’s Cup tournament in 2021 against major international opposition, a notable achievement for a new club. Since then, Racing Louisville have worked to establish themselves as consistent contenders and an important force in the growth of women’s football in the American Midwest and the wider NWSL.
