📜 History

Home to Northamptonshire County Cricket Club and Northamptonshire Steelbacks, The County Ground is a historic cricket venue located in the town of Northampton. First opened in 1885, the venue was also the home ground of Northampton Town FC between 1897 and 1994. 

Over the years, The County Ground has become known as a venue that favours spin bowlers – a belief backed up in 2005 when Northamptonshire spinners Jason Brown and Monty Panesar took all 20 wickets in a County Championship game at the ground. The County Ground's most famous moment arguably arrived in 1999 when the venue was chosen to host 2 Cricket World Cup Matches, including a contest between Bangladesh and eventual finalists Pakistan. As well as a top cricket venue, The County Ground has also hosted a number of concerts featuring music legends like Elton John and Craig David.
