Middlesbrough is a small port town along the River Tees just a few kilometres inland of England’s breezy North East Coast. It’s also the proud birthplace of Captain James Cook, the famous explorer who discovered many of the world’s Pacific countries. His memory is still honoured today at the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum. With the Durham Heritage Coast to the north and North York Moors National Park to the south, Middlesbrough is sandwiched between some of the country’s most scenic landscapes, making it a great base from which to immerse in nature and explore the North East.
