As Redcar Racecourse is centrally located in Redcar, there are some great public transport connections including via train and bus. There are also good road links around the course and ample free car parking is available on site for those wishing to arrive by car.

🅿️ Parking

There's plenty of free parking on site for both enclosures:

Grandstand Enclosure, Redcar Lane (Satnav postcode TS10 2FD) - separated into Trackside and Main Entrance, see below
Course Enclosure, West Dyke Road (Satnav postcode TS10 1H)

There are 2 Grandstand Enclosure parking options for racedays, both of which are available free of charge:

Trackside Car Park - there are limited spaces for cars in the trackside car parking area and it is likely to fill up. Therefore please book your parking space at the same time as purchasing your Grandstand Enclosure tickets
Main Entrance Car Park - there is plenty of parking in the Main Entrance Car Park which is available on a first-come, first-served basis

The majority of Grandstand Enclosure parking is on hard standing, where as the majority of the Course Enclosure parking is on grass in the Centre Course area.

The Coach Park is located in the Centre Course - please follow signage for the Course Enclosure.

🚍 Coach & Bus

Bus is a popular way to reach Redcar Racecourse because of its connections with multiple routes:

62, 63, 64 & 81 – Redcar Central Station stop · 900 m (11 min) walk
62 – Ings Farm Shops stop · 1.3 km (16 min) walk

If you are looking to hire a coach to travel to and from the races, the racecourse recommends Coatham Coaches (01287 65 22 22 - http://coathamcoaches.co.uk/). The Coach Park is located in the Centre Course. Please follow signage for the Course Enclosure.

Middlesbrough is an affordable town to visit with plenty of mid-range and budget hotels to stay in, as well as a number of quaint B&Bs, most of which are located within the town centre itself.

📍 Where To Stay

Those who want to experience the town’s nightlife will be strategically positioned in the town centre, as it’s where the best restaurants, bars, and clubs are located. It’s also where you’ll find the main train station, which provides links across Northern England.

The town is coupled with Stockton-on-Tees, a charming market town home to Durham University Queen’s Campus. Stockton is slightly more expensive than Middlesbrough, as it is considered a more refined town, but thanks to its student population, it has an excellent arts scene and nightlife.

Alternatively, stay in coastal towns Redcar or Saltburn-by-the-Sea to make the most of the Northern Coast. Connected to Middlesbrough by train, it’s easy to reach the town as and when you like.

There’s also a number of beautiful traditional farms, estates, and cottages to stay in in the countryside surrounding Middlesbrough, offering a quiet, peaceful, and nature-rich experience.

Most towns and cities surrounding Middlesbrough, including Stockton, Redcar, Saltburn, Darlington, Sunderland, and Newcastle, are easily reached by train. To truly make the most of your stay in Middlesbrough, a car is recommended.

About Redcar Racecourse

Redcar Racecourse is a horse racing venue predominantly used for flat racing and is located Redcar, North Yorkshire in the United Kingdom.

The racecourse can trace its history back to the early 18th Century when racing took place on Redcar beach until 1870. A group of local sportsmen and gentlemen secured a 21-year lease for what is now the grounds of the present course. The new racecourse was built with fences and a parade ring and the first meeting was held in August 1872. Just a few years later, a grandstand was erected and over the years, the course has developed into a fantastic place for a day out at the races!

🍔 Food & Drink

Choose from a wide range of bars, restaurants, and catering outlets where there is something to cover all tastes and budgets: the Crow's Nest Restaurant offers a fine dining hospitality package; the Voltigeur Restaurant has lighter bites; Malton & Middleham Bars, Zetland Bar, and takeaway vending vans will sell food and snacks.

In the Course Enclosure (located in the Centre Course area), racegoers are welcome to bring a picnic but are reminded that alcohol is limited to personal consumption only (4 cans or 1/2 bottle of wine per person, but no spirits or glass bottles).

Portable/disposable BBQs and gazebos are not permitted within the racecourse enclosures. Please do not bring them with you as you will be refused entrance.

💂 Entry Gates

Remember to leave plenty of time when planning your journey as the roads and routes around the racecourse can become very busy in the lead up to gates opening and the first race.

Use the entrance indicated on your ticket; either Grandstand Enclosure turnstiles or Course Enclosure turnstiles.

There are toilet facilities conveniently located throughout the racecourse in all areas and enclosures.

Disabled toilets - there are accessible toilet facilities located
Event mobility - disabled access is generally good with access to facilities and good viewing points, however, as different areas of the racecourse have been developed at different points in history, some areas are not as accessible
Assistance dogs - Guide Dogs, Hearing Dogs, and Dogs for the Disabled are welcome at the racecourse
