Sandown Park Racecourse can be reached via the London Waterloo to Woking line operated by South Western Railway. Alight at Esher station, which is 1.1 km (13 min) walk to racecourse via a dedicated entrance to the venue. On racedays, there is a complimentary shuttle bus service between the station and the course for those who would prefer not to walk.
Please note that the path between the station and venue crosses the course which will be shut for approximately 10 mins before and after each race as there will be horses on the course. On cold days, the track may be frosty, meaning the crossing from the train station into the centre of the course will be closed. Please leave plenty of time to arrive, as the time it takes to walk to the racecourse entrance will be increased.
Accommodation in London can be on the pricey side. However, this huge city has plenty of options available from hostels to luxury hotels and, combined with its sprawling transport network, there are places to stay for all budgets and tastes.
There are plenty of food and drink options at the course. The Food Court is located in the Surrey Hall of the main Grandstand and provides a variety of food and drink. Crackle & Hum will be open to provide hot drinks and grab-and-go snacks. Concession stands will also be located outside the Grandstand providing a choice of hot drinks, and delicious foods like fish & chips and burgers.
There are also numerous bars offering a range of spirits, wines, beers, and soft drinks throughout both enclosures. The Madri Lounge, located in our Premier Enclosure, is also available at selected Sandown Park fixtures.
Racegoers are only permitted to bring their own food or picnics to the Picnic Enclosure of the course (when it is in operation). Gazebos, tables, and chairs are not permitted into the racecourse and alcohol can only be brought in with a substantial picnic and is limited to half a 750ml bottle of wine, Champagne, or prosecco per person or 4 cans of beer, cider, or pre-mixed aperitif per person. Racegoers often enjoy a picnic in the car park. Please note that barbecues are not permitted anywhere at Sandown Park.
Sandown Park Racecourse has a helipad for personnel attending racing only. People wishing to arrive by helicopter should please contact the venue in advance by calling 01372 464 348.
Sandown Park Racecourse is a 550 m (7 min) walk from Esher Town Centre where there is a range of shops, bars, and eateries. For a wider selection, visitors can take the train from Esher into London.
