Edinburgh Old Town is home to most of the city’s biggest draws, including Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile – perfect for those who want to be in the heart of the action. This is also where all of the festivities unfold during the famous Fringe comedy festival.

Edinburgh New Town may not have as many historical landmarks, but it is closer to the train station for easy access around the city and beyond, and the city’s best shops are on its doorstep.

With picturesque Georgian townhouses and a meandering stream, Dean Village offers a tranquil escape from the bustling centre for families. Yet, it’s just a 20 minute walk to the Old Town, and a 15 minute walk to the New Town.

The upmarket Stockbridge is also lined with fancy Georgian townhouses, but as it’s best known for its concentration of cool independent eateries and Sunday outdoor food market, it's most suited to foodies.

Meanwhile, situated on the other side of Edinburgh’s Old Town, Southside, Bruntsfield, and The Meadows are where you’ll find the city’s coolest shops, bars, and clubs.

Almondvale Stadium, also known as the Home of the Set Fare Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a football stadium located in Livingston, Scotland. Due its former name, the Tony Macaroni Arena, it has been nicknamed "The Spaghettihad" as an allusion to Manchester City's Etihad Stadium, and it is the home of Livingston FC.

📜 History

Almondvale Stadium opened in 1995 as the new home of Meadowbank Thistle, who were renamed Livingston upon relocating there from Edinburgh that year.

After the club's subsequent rapid rise through the tiers of Scottish football to reach the top flight in 2001, the venue had to be expanded to meet the standards required by the league.

It has had a number of names over the years for sponsorship reasons, including the West Lothian Courier Stadium, City Stadium, Braidwood Motor Company Stadium, and Energy Assets Arena.

Almondvale hosted an international football match between Scotland women and England women in 1997, and 4 years later it was named as the Scottish FA's centre for women's football. Hibernian Women's FC used the stadium as their home venue in the 2021-22 season.
