Livingston FC are a Scottish professional football club based in Livingston. They play their home games at Almondvale Stadium, also known as the Tony Macaroni Arena.
📜 Livingston History
Livingston were founded in 1943 as Ferranti Amateurs (later Ferranti Thistle), an amateur team comprised of the workers from engineering company Ferranti's Edinburgh factory.
The club grew in stature over the years and in 1972 they became members of Scottish Football Association. A further 2 years later they joined the Scottish Football League for the first time, but to do so they had to move from their home at City Park to the more modern Meadowbank Stadium, and to change their name since sponsorship names were not permitted. In honour of their new home, the name Meadowbank Thistle was adopted.
Amid financial difficulties the club relocated in 1995 to the relatively new town of Livingston, approximately 17 miles west of Edinburgh, and it was then that they took on their current moniker.
The club won its first major honour, the Scottish League Cup, in 2004, and they finished as runners-up in that competition once again in 2021.
