Tannadice Park

Tannadice Park, also known simply as Tannadice, is a football stadium located in Dundee, Scotland. It is the home of Dundee United, and sits just 200 yards (183 m) from arch-rivals Dundee FC's Dens Park.

📜 History

The ground, known at the time as Clepington Park, was first used by Dundee East End in 1882, although the site had been used to stage football matches in the decade prior.

After being used by various teams over the years – including Johnstone Wanderers, who enclosed the ground in 1891 in order to charge for admission – it was eventually taken over by Dundee United (known then as Dundee Hibernian) in 1909. Angered at their eviction to make way for Dundee, Wanderers dismantled the entire ground, including the grandstands, fencing, and goalposts, forcing the new club to rebuild the venue anew; it was at this point it was renamed Tannadice Park.

Having previously leased the venue, United purchased it in 1925 and made various upgrades over the following decades. Many modifications were required following the publication of the Taylor Report in 1990 that mandated all-seater stadiums, as Tannadice at the time had seating in just the Main Stand.
