Dundee city centre and Marketgait, located directly next to the River Tay, are where most of the city’s top hotels are located, along with the best Old Town attractions, shops, bars, and restaurants.
If you’d prefer to stay away from the bustle of the city centre, but still within easy reach of it, opt for East Marketgait or Hilltown, which are slightly quieter and more residential.
For an even quieter visit, stay on the other side of the River Tay in a small picturesque seaside town called Newport-on-Tay, which offers scenic views of the river, Dundee, and the Scottish Highlands, as well as charming pubs and shops.
Alternatively, head further along the Dundee side of River Tay to Carnoustie, a small and scenic town with luxury boutique accommodation, a breezy Scottish seaside, and a number of top golf courses.
Dundee is a fairly small city, so it’s easy to get around on foot to see all of its local attractions if you are staying close by. For those who would prefer to stay further afield, the city is connected by train to many nearby coastal towns, as well as other parts of Scotland.
