The Fray are an American rock band from Denver, Colorado, formed in 2002 by schoolmates Isaac Slade and Joe King. Blending rock, alternative rock and pop rock, the group built a reputation on piano‑driven melodies and introspective lyrics. Completing the classic line-up with Dave Welsh and Ben Wysocki, they broke through internationally with their debut album "How to Save a Life" (2005), whose singles "Over My Head (Cable Car)" and "How to Save a Life" became worldwide hits and earned Grammy nominations.
Their self‑titled second album "The Fray" (2009) debuted at number one in the United States, led by the single "You Found Me". Subsequent releases "Scars & Stories" (2012) and "Helios" (2014) expanded their sound, while the compilation "Through the Years: The Best of the Fray" (2016) closed their first chapter. After a hiatus and the departure of original vocalist Slade in 2022, the band returned as a trio with Joe King on lead vocals, issuing the EP "The Fray Is Back" (2024) and the album "A Light That Waits" (2026).
