San Francisco 49ers History
The 49ers are one of the NFL's most iconic teams. Established in 1946, they enjoyed some of their greatest achievements in the 1980s and 1990s – in particular, all 5 of the franchise's Super Bowl wins took place between 1982 – 1995.
Clad in their famous red and gold uniform, the 49ers continue to contend in the 2020s. Most recently, the team won the NFC Championship in 2020 and 2024, but were defeated in the Super Bowl on both occasions by Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
