Ascot may be a small town on the outskirts of London, but this ritzy place has made a big name for itself, particularly amongst the British upper classes. It is, after all, home of the Ascot Racecourse which hosts the country’s most prestigious annual horse race. Known for its hat-wearing traditions and star-studded guest list, which includes the likes of Queen Elizabeth and her royal enteurage, the Royal Ascot race holds a firm place in the country’s heritage. However, Ascot has royal appeal all year round as it neighbours the royals’ private estates — Windsor Castle and Frogmore House. Meanwhile, just a short train ride away from the pomp and circumstance of admirable Ascot is the gritty capital city of London and its world-famous sights.
Located just outside Greater London, Ascot’s primary airport is London Heathrow Airport (LHR), the most well-connected in the UK. The airport is located 18 km northeast of Ascot, which can be reached in around 50 minutes by taking the 285 bus from Great South West Road Hatton to Feltham High Street followed by the Great Western Railway from Feltham Station.
