Port Vale are a professional football club based in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Nicknamed the Valiants, their home ground is Vale Park.
📜 Port Vale History
Vale's origins are disputed; according to the club, they were founded in 1876 in a meeting at Port Vale House, while according to historian Jeff Kent, they were likely founded in 1879 as an off-shoot of Porthill Victoria FC.
Either way, that incarnation of the club – who were among the founding members of the Football League Second Division in 1892 – was liquidated in 1907, and their name was adopted by minor league outfit Cobridge Church, who went on to rejoin the Football League in 1919.
In 1958, they also became founding members of the Football League Fourth Division.
Port Vale lifted their first notable silverware in 1993 in the form of the EFL Trophy, which they claimed again in 2001.
