The Paris-Roubaix, also known as “The Queen of the Classics”, is one of cycling’s oldest and most prestigious 1-day events. Traditionally held in early April each year, the event is among the 5 classic Monument races in cycling.
Conceived by Robaix-based textile manufacturers Theodore Vienne and Maurice Perez, the inaugural Paris-Roubaix was held in 1896. Its original course began in Paris and finished at the Roubaix velodrome. Since its inauguration, Paris-Roubaix has only been interrupted during the World Wars and the Coronavirus pandemic of 2020.
Although the Paris-Roubaix course has undergone numerous changes over the years, its reputation as the most challenging one-day race remains true earning its nickname, “The Hell of the North”.
The Paris-Roubaix Femmes (women's race) is due to be held on the day before the men's race.
Paris-Roubaix Tickets
The race takes place over public roads and so no entry ticket is required to watch the cyclists; simply choose your spot along the route and get there in plenty of time before road closures to cheer them on. Hospitality tickets are available in some locations, which are located at the start or along the final part of the day's route.
