New York Jets History
Originally known as the Titans of New York, the Jets were one of the first members of the American Football League (AFL), before later joining the NFL as part of the AFL-NFL merger. During the 1968/69 season, the Jets reached the playoffs for the first time and competed in Super Bowl III, where they became the first AFL team to defeat an NFL team (the Baltimore Colts) in a championship game.
Although yet to return to the Super Bowl, the Jets have appeared in the playoffs numerous times since 1969, and played in the AFC Championship game on 3 occasions. Top stars to play for the franchise include the legendary "Broadway" Joe Namath, and more recently, Aaron Rodgers.
