Dallas Cowboys History
In 1960, the Cowboys joined the NFL as an expansion team. Despite posting losing records in each of their first 5 seasons, the Cowboys soon became one of the NFL's top teams, qualifying for the playoffs in 17 of 18 seasons between 1966 and 1983. During this time, the Cowboys were the only NFL team to record 20 consecutive winning seasons (1966–85), missing the playoffs just twice (1974 and 1984).
The Dallas Cowboys have made it to the Super Bowl 8 times, winning on 5 occasions. Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, DeMarcus Ware, Deion Sanders, Roger Staubach, Larry Allen, and Randy White are just some of the legendary names to have played for the franchise.
Famous the world over, the Cowboys are one of NFL's most well-supported franchises. In 2023, Forbes valued the Cowboys at $9.2 billion, making them the most valuable sports team on the planet.
