Burton Albion are a professional football team based in Burton-upon-Trent, England. Also known as the Brewers, they play their home games at Pirelli Stadium.
📜 Burton Albion History
Burton were founded in 1950, and the club has spent much of its history playing in various regional divisions.
In 1998, Nigel Clough became player-manager; he guided the team to the Football Conference (now the National League) for the first time in 2002, and in 2006 he helped the Brewers secure a historic 0-0 draw at home to Manchester United in the FA Cup.
Despite Clough leaving midway through the 2008-09 season, Burton gained promotion to the Football League for the first time. The Brewers not only managed to establish themselves as EFL regulars, but also managed to climb the leagues, with Clough returning in 2015 to help the team gain promotion to the Championship for the first time.
