Officially known as the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament, the Rotterdam Open is the biggest tennis tournament in the Netherlands. It is an ATP 500 event, and has been hosting excellent men’s draws since 1972 – what other tournament can boast both Arthur Ashe and Roger Federer as holders of the most singles titles? It's 3 apiece, if you were wondering!
It is therefore fitting that the first player announced for the 2022 tournament, which is taking place between 5-13 February, is a bona fide star too; Russian Daniil Medvedev, who recently swept aside none other than Novak Djokovic on his way to the US Open singles title, has confirmed his attendance, and he’ll be one of the favourites to go all the way on his favoured hard court surface. A yet-to-be-announced field of players, however, will no doubt be keen to get in Medvedev’s way, in what promises to be another competitive edition of the tournament.
The Open makes its home every year at the city’s Rotterdam Ahoy, a spectacular indoor arena which has hosted everything from athletics to Eurovision! If you want to guarantee yourself a seat in this iconic venue, you should check out the tickets on offer. Spectators are permitted into the tournament from Monday 7 February onwards – the first day of the main draw – and tickets can be purchased on a sessional basis. On most days there is a day session and an evening session. Alternatively, fans can buy a “Master Key” ticket, which grants entry to every session on every day, meaning you won't miss a single thrilling minute of this tournament!
Seats are available in 3 different categories. The closest views are found in Courtside seating, where prices start from €61.50 per person for 1 session, and €570 for the Master Key. From Courtside, you’ll feel like you’re practically sitting on the sidelines! The other 2 seating categories are marginally further from the court – but Ahoy’s banked seating means you can still enjoy fantastic views of the action; seats in the Lower Tier begin from €42.50 person for 1 session (€375 for the week), and €33.50 in the Upper Tier (€295) – a competitive price for such a high-quality competition. There are also dedicated viewing areas for disabled fans and their companions located in the Lower Tier. So forget “or anywhere” - it’s Rotterdam Ahoy!
